I love playing as part of Edgelarks, my duo with my wife, and we're looking forward to playing at Settle Victoria Hall in the autumn. Unique music venues such as this offer something extra special for us as musicians and for the audiences we play to, and we are very lucky to have some great venues around the UK.
Settle Victoria Hall is the oldest music hall in the world, located in the market town of Settle, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. It's a very beautiful space that dates back to 1852 and has seen a huge variety of entertainment over the years. Victoria Hall has now become a community space, bringing culture and the arts to the local area, and we can't wait to play there again soon.
Victoria Hall offers more than 170 events every year, from comedy, dance, theatre and talks to music and film, and there are many other venues all over the UK on a similar mission. Grassroots music venues often include local pubs, clubs and arts centres, and many of these, including Victoria Hall, are supported by the Music Venue Trust.
The Music Venue Trust is a UK registered charity that has been working to protect, secure and improve grassroots music venues. Good local music venues are crucial to the development of grassroots music and new talent, and provide an essential platform for artists to perform and grow.
