A question that often comes up with budding slide guitarists is: is playing slide guitar more difficult than other styles of guitar playing?
The simple answer is, no.
Any musical technique comes with its own challenges, and I'd be lying if I said there were no elements to playing slide that need concentration and practice. But with the right guidance, I firmly believe that anyone can develop a great slide technique and enjoy playing slide guitar.
In fact, there are several elements of slide that make it easier than other guitar styles. Open tunings are very approachable when they are properly explained, and they lead to simpler chord shapes.
But the main thing with slide guitar is: if you get the foundations right, you don't need to do anything fancy to sound amazing. If you can play soulful, in-tune notes, you'll blow your audience away with the simplest melody.
